Structure of Diamond
Unit cell of Diamond
In the diamond structure, five carbon atoms are tetrahedral with each four equivalent bonds.
The model of diamond and it's unit cell are represented in the photo.
You can find the cube which has eight red colored balls in the left model.
In the unit cell of diamond, eight red and six blue balls make the face-centered cubic lattice. At the same time, this cube has four yellow balls in it.
Note that this cube doesn't contain eighteen balls but eight.

Structure of Ice
The structure of ice is known : it consists of a regular three dimensional arrangement of water molecules, with each oxygen surrounded tetrahedrally by hydrogen atoms.
Two of these are bonded to the oxygen atom by a normal O-H bond, two are held by hydrogen bonds.
